Have the children’s schools and the extracurricular activities they attend been provided with the new contact details for you and your former partner and or spouse?
Have temporary arrangements been made in terms of where the children will live and how they will spend time with the other parent?
Who is in possession of the children’s passports?
If you have any concerns about whether your former partner or spouse will take the children overseas you should immediately secure their passports and seek legal advice.
The above checklist should not be utilised in the event of family violence or if you have serious concerns about the welfare or safety of yourself and/or the children. In those circumstances, it is recommended that you seek legal advice and if necessary, assistance from the Police.
