PsyLegal

Psylegal is a Melbourne based boutique psychology practice specialising in the areas of clinical and forensic psychology. It was founded in 2009 by Dr. Qusai Hussain to help people with a variety of mental health issues who were faced with the legal system in family, criminal and civil matters. Since then it has grown to a team of highly skilled and qualified Psychologists who are registered Psychologists with the Psychology Board of Australia and accredited members of the Australian Psychological Society.

The practice offers specialised services in the area of family law, with highly trained and skilled Psychologists that have a sound knowledge of the family law system and the emotional and psychological toll this can place on a separating/divorced couple.

A separation or divorce can be a traumatic and life-changing event for a separating couple. At Psylegal, our Psychologists offer a supportive, emphatic and discrete counseling service for either couples or individuals considering separating.

Our services include:

  • Managing emotions associated with separation

  • Managing symptoms of Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Grief & Loss

  • Learning how to manage and cope with the grief

  • Recognising and coping with anger and hurt

  • Transitioning into being 'single'

  • Understanding what it means to be a single mom/dad

  • Being able to face the prospect of a new and sustaining relationship.

  • Managing the impact on children

  • Negotiating parenting plans and custody arrangements

  • Providing Clinical and Forensic psychological reports for the Courts

The psychological impacts of separation and divorce, such as anxiety stress and depression can also make it difficult to negotiate the legal requirements in an efficient and effective way. Our goal is to provide our clients with the support, strategies and coping mechanisms that will help them to navigate through a painful and sometimes traumatic experience in their life to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
